Melphius the Magnificent
Melphius the Magnificent, a.k.a. “The Dark Wizard:” He died impaled on a spike trap grasping at the jewel that had captured his greed, but we remember him for his timely sleep spell against the Gnoll & bandits and his masterful dressing down of the reluctant hireling Oxnard. His fate was to have his body abandoned by his companions and later eaten by ghouls. Adventurers are a hard and unsentimental lot, but at least his name now marks Melphius’ Hill south of the Charred Inn, if only on the carved table map at that notorious adventurers den “The Weary Ox.”
